Hi, I'm Spencer

I'm a software engineer based in the Bay Area, California, currently working at Chevron. I build full-stack applications and vendor integrations for the company's network of 300+ company-owned & operated (COCO) stations across the West Coast.

I enjoy building reliable, well-designed systems that solve real problems. From backend integrations to customer-facing applications, I focus on creating solutions that work consistently and scale effectively.

Staying Active

Sports have been a constant throughout my life. I've played basketball, soccer, tennis, and pickleball for as long as I can remember, and most weekends you'll still find me on a court, at my local run club, or somewhere outdoors staying active.

My current goal is dunking a basketball in a real game. I recently threw down a clean volleyball dunk during practice, which tells me I'm getting pretty close to doing it on a full-size rim.

Chef Leff

My love of cooking and baking started in the kitchen with my mom and grandma. Growing up, we spent hours learning new recipes together, including their chocolate chip cookies which remain undefeated to this day. Even now, whenever I visit home, my grandma and I set aside a baking day to try a recipe neither of us has tried before.

In 2025, I also attended a pizza-making class in Sorrento, Italy, just steps from where Margherita pizza originated. Learning from a local chef using fresh ingredients and a wood-fired oven was an experience I'll always remember.

Player One

Gaming has been one of my favorite creative outlets for years. From building Minecraft worlds with friends, to conquering a new Destiny raid together, or exploring the intricate world of Hollow Knight, it’s always been a space where I can unwind and dive into something amazing.

My current focus is on Beat Saber, a VR rhythm game that's far more physical than it looks. I'm working toward a top 1,000 global ranking in the ranked modded scene, a goal that has pushed my speed, accuracy, and focus further than I ever expected.

New Horizons

For most of my life, travel was something I experienced through family vacations. But, over the past few years, I've discovered how much I enjoy exploring new places and pushing myself outside my comfort zone. Every trip leaves me with new perspectives and an even longer list of destinations I'd love to see.

In 2025, I had the opportunity to visit Oahu, Barcelona, and the Amalfi Coast. From taking a surfing lesson in Hawaii's clear waters to wandering through Barcelona's historic streets and admiring the stunning Mediterrenean views, each destination provided unforgettable experiences and memories I'll carry with me for years to come.

Built and maintained EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) interfaces for Coremark, Fintech, and individual DSD vendors across the company's 300+ station network. These integrations streamlined invoicing, ordering, pricebook, and delivery workflows, saving more than $8M annually across 50+ vendors.

ADF EDI SFTP PDI

Architected and engineered financial data pipelines between PDI and SAP using Azure Data Factory and custom SQL, as part of a multi-million dollar back-office modernization initiative. The work was held to strict quality and testing standards given the sensitivity of financial data.

ADF SAP SQL PDI

Led a digital signage pilot on 4K Samsung displays, building an analytics platform to compare sales, promotions, and foot traffic. Served as project lead for architecture design, software maintenance, station support, and custom content production.

VXT CMS Power BI Adobe Samsung

Digitized the station's physical compliance binder into a custom-built Internal Angular application, replacing paper documents with organized digital access. Authentication is handled dynamically through an Azure Function that pulls data from both OTMM and SharePoint. Custom network whitelisting supported for security purposes.

Angular Azure Function OTMM REST API

Replaced paper price tags with digital shelf labels that sync pricing and promotions with POS in real time. The system supports custom promotional templates driven by live SQL queries against the back-office system.

ADF SQL Bat Scripting PDI

Supported the Workjam workforce platform across the COCO network, enabling task management, knowledge sharing, and communication for station employees. Built custom Azure Logic Apps to pipe daily task-completion data into Power BI dashboards.

Frog Hero

A story-driven rhythm platformer built in Unity as my senior capstone, guiding a heroic frog through platforming challenges timed to a hand-picked soundtrack. It was my first Unity project, built from the ground up across gameplay programming, level design, and audio-synced mechanics.

Piano...

A gamified piano-learning app with 50 unlockable public-domain songs, streaming notation across the staff in-sync with the music. Rebuilt the app from scratch in Swift ahead of Apple's Objective-C deprecation, continuing a title that lived on the app store for over a decade before it was discontinued by the creator.

Hyper Enchants

A Spigot plugin for Minecraft adding a full custom enchantment system on top of vanilla gameplay, with 70+ enchantments spread across five rarity tiers. Built out an in-game Enchanter and Tinkerer menu for buying, combining, and recycling enchanted gear, all backed by real-time effect handling during combat.
